Realontario.ca applauds the efforts of several businesses located in Eastern Ontario in promoting the concept of "Sustainable Tourism" and operating under like-minded principles.
Sustainable Tourism is defined (by Parks Canada and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada) as "tourism which actively fosters appreciation and stewardship of the natural, cultural and historic resources and special places by local residents, the tourism industry, governments and visitors."
Sustainable Tourism is a concept with long term goals. In basic terms, the number one goal is to ensure that the natural environment and cultural wonders that visitors come to see today will be maintained and supported for the visitors (and tourism businesses) of tomorrow.
